AN ELECTION LETTER TO VOTERS OF KADUN PANTAI JEREJAK

Dear Voters,

Each time there is an election, every election candidate will ask you to give them an opportunity. I remembered I asked you for that 4 years ago.  Today, 4 years later, I am coming back to ask you to renew my term and I have good reasons for doing so.

Please consider my track record in the constituency.  In Jalan Tengah, for the first time we have a “new” garden.  Due to my incessant “nagging”, PDC coughed up more than RM3 million to make good some basic repairs such as repair of lifts, new rubbish chutes, repair of drains, etc in the whole of Bayan Baru which includes Jalan Tengah, Bandar Bayan Baru and Mahsuri.  The stretch of road along Jalan Tengah leading to Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah was widened to cater to another lane turning left, thereby easing traffic congestion.  The most important traffic light at the junction of Jalan Mayangpasir and Lebuhraya Mayangpasir near the present CIMB Bank has been put up, thereby solving a long-standing traffic safety problem.  So has the overhead pedestrian bridge linking the 2 schools to Giant Supermarket.

The whole of Jalan Mahsuri and Jalan Mayangpasir have been widened and brightened.  Another additional lane from Mayang Mall leading to the junction turning left towards Sunway Tunas township has also been completed, again easing the bottleneck problems caused at the junction.  In Mahsuri, the long-standing 20 years problem of the tilting Block H has been resolved when it was taken down and unit owners adequately and satisfactory compensated.

In Kampong Jawa, serious work has started to give the infamous black monsoon drains a complete face-lift, that is to turn the present Category 5 drain into a Category 2.  The road fronting Public Bank has been widened to cater for more parking spaces.

In Taman Sri Nibong, a RM500,000 garden now completed with 28 garden lights is now the pride of all Penang.  We are presently working hard to convert the long-standing abandoned hawkers complex into an IT centre and library.

In Pantai Jerjak, Jalan Aziz Ibrahim has been converted into a main road with new traffic flow designed to cater towards safety.  The bridge linking the apartments around Villa Mas and Gold Coast to Bayan Mutiara thereby providing an important alternative road for road users has been opened to traffic. A new police station has also been provided in Queensbay which will provide service and security to both the housing estates of Pantai Jerjak and Taman Sri Nibong.

Factory workers in Bayan Lepas will remember how a particular stretch of Bayan Lepas Expressway used to experience flash floods during certain days of the month, causing loss of time and productivity.  Today, the issue has been resolved when the entire road was raised by 3 feet.

All kampongs in the constituency have been given annual attention in terms of provision of basic infrastructure such as roads and drains.

The constituency is poised for exciting times.  The entire Queensbay Mall area has finally  been revived and is now very vibrant.  The entire constituency is MSC-based and with it, around Sunshine Square, exciting projects such as Sun-Tech, the D’Piazza and The One (former site of Penang Jaya) will soon make the area THE place to be for the whole of Penang.

All these in 4 years, my dear voters.  It has not been easy but I have faced these challenges and hope that you will be able to give me another chance to continue the work.  I have been a full-time Wakil Rakyat and this means that I have been able to provide services around the clock.  I have never turned down anyone who turns up at my Centre which has been providing help to more than 2,000 people in these 4 years.  Success rate? Perhaps 80%.  I am not a Superman nor pretend to be one.   I have tried my best to serve to the best of my ability these 4 years.  I have spoken up strongly and vocally on important issues concerning you and the State at the State Assembly seating (You can read my speeches in my web-site, www.pjerejak.com.my).  I am ready to do more and I promise that I will continue to do what I can.  All I am asking is for you to consider  renewing my mandate based on my track record.  Because at the end of the day, it is you, the voters who is going to decide who is best to represent you at the State level.  You are the best judge of my performance and my track record.

Thank you.
